Perhaps I blogged a little too soon that this year is going to be a non interesting year.
Maybe I didn't say it in those exact words but that's the gist of how I had been feeling.
Let's just say last week was not 'uninteresting'.
To start off the week I talked to someone about Brynlee and about how she started crying in her sleep when we brought her home from the hospital after she was born. Over the years the nightmares got a little more intense but further in between.
She still has them sometimes and I believe it is because she knew and could feel all of the emotions and goings on of our hospital stay. I know she knew her Mama was sick and that everyone was worried and stressed out. Other than being sad to leave the Heavens behind, what else would a 2 week old have experienced to have nightmares that make her cry in her sleep?
The person I spoke with is an angel in disguise, she has taught me many things in such a short amount of time and if moving into this home had no other reason than to meet her, then living here would've been significantly worth it. She recommended a book called 'Heaven is For Real'. It's about a little 3 year old boy that has emergency surgery and leaves his body, essentially he dies even though the monitors don't show the evidence of that, and visits Heaven, sees and talks with Jesus as well as many other people. It was an amazing read and helped me understand a way to approach Brynlee to see if she remembered anything about her experience in the hospital those 3 1/2 years ago.
So I read the book. Couldn't put it down actually.
I waited for a moment when Brynlee wasn't in her high energy moment and was a little more susceptible to sitting down with Mama to just talk.
I asked her, "Brynlee, do you remember when Mama was in the hospital?"
She responded, "Yes, I remember."
"What do you remember?"
It was her answer that made me realize that I was right not to expect some massive revelation.
She said, "The TV was born in the office."
So profound right?
But after asking a couple other simple questions she did say, "They put medicine on my eyes."
Hmmm... yes they did. She also said that I was boring and so was daddy.
So nothing major came from it but I wanted to ask anyway. Just to see.
I believe little children are still so close to our Heavenly Father and Jesus and I wanted to ask before she got too old and started moving away from that innocence.
Moving on to the next thing.
Wednesday night our furnace decided to stop working.
It's ironic because last June our AC stopped working.
We were living with 80 degree temps in our house.
Now our furnace decided to quit and we were living with 50 degree temps in the house.
We are definitely trying to learn some lessons so this doesn't continue happening.
Good news though! The furnace decided to resurrect itself Thursday night!
Go figure!
24 hours without heat in the house in the middle of January is not enjoyable.
Love being a homeowner though!
The next thing.
Thursday morning. 7:20ish.
I woke up to a crashing sound and walked outside to see this.
It was the first time in my life that I have ever seen freezing rain.
The roads were AWFUL!
2 kids driving to school. Driver had just turned 16 in November.
The windshield was so iced over that I was standing in front of the blazer and couldn't even tell there were people sitting in the front seats.
Needless to say I was up for the day and wearing my coat around the house, using my oven to keep my kitchen warm enough to even stand being home.
Won't know the damages besides the fence until Spring probably.
However, no one was hurt and I'm glad there was a fence there because they were headed straight for our car and home. Silver linings.
I am hoping this next week is a little less eventful but I'm kind of waiting for the third thing.
They always come in 3's right?
Interesting how life can throw you for a loop in an instant!

Didn't the furnace go back out again? That would make it three...?/ So it should all be over and done now right? whew....:)
isn't that the fun of life- when we make plans, things usually don't work out that way. But, you get a new fence. January is over and life is going well. LOVE YOU!
Blast! Life has a lot of frustrating things to deal with, doesn't it? I'm so sorry. My furnace went out too. That was not a cheap thing to fix! Our pipes froze while the furnace wasn't working...thank goodness those thawed without bursting! I was super stressed out. However, you are right, it is awesome to own your own home. :)
