August

Sad news. The Zoellners are moving across the country to Greenville, South Carolina. They sold basically most all their stuff at a yard sale this month and it was so sad. I mean we are so excited forth but Ty's best friend is moving away and that makes me sad for them. Bittersweet I guess.
Girls Camp! Yeah, the picture of the tent could be a symbol of how it went for me. If I'm being honest I didn't feel needed so I felt out of place pretty much the whole time. I didn't have any girls in my car on the way there so I just jammed to my tunes and once I got there it kind of didn't get much better. I broke my water bottle within the first ten minutes, broke my umbrella and ripped my tent wall. Helped put up the girls tents. Ropes course was pretty great. Probably the most fun I had the whole time if I'm being honest. That first night it rained and rained hard. My sleeping bag was wet, I was laying on a huge tree root and seriously got so homesick (which is so unlike me) and just wanted to go home. A sweet angel, Lori Kempton, lent me a cot and some extra blankets which made my life so much better. We did a fun little hike, I had to get gangster with some girls that weren't behaving, pretty sure they thought I sucked, not sure I cared. They warmed up to me a little later though when I helped them with their craft stuff. One morning I helped make scones for breakfast and it was so funny because they kept getting bigger and bigger and we couldn't figure out why but finally we figured it out because the dough kept rising. The girls I was making them with and I had a really good laugh about it and that was probably the most fun I had interacting with the girls. That and when Rachel McNeill tried to pull a fast one and hide in Mary Cowley's sleeping bag the whole time I was talking to all the girls in that tent and telling them to go to bed. By the time it was over a group of girls wanted to ride home with me which made me feel happy.
Our poor corn. We aren't quite sure what's happening but maybe the soil is too wet? Ty is trying to figure it out and he shut off the sprinklers to the garden to help dry out the ground a bit.

Sometimes I look nice before I go to class and get all sweaty and splotchy red.

Funtopia before school starts back up again. That gear wall is Brynlee's nemesis but she conquered it and then kept doing it over and over again. Super proud of her not giving up. They had a good time. I also took the wrong exit, way before I was supposed to and we had to go through all this random construction and a weird neighborhood before I got back on the freeway and we finally got there. Note that we were still on time for our climb session though. Ha.

Brynlee went camping with the Cutright's in Oakley at their property. Walks, swinging, fishing at the lake, throwing the football and frisbee, trying to ride the 4-wheeler but chickening out (haha), Marshal chasing everyone with a frog, ice cream and lots of memories made. I'm sure it won't be the last time either.

Summer days at Mimi and Papa's. Auntie Britty did gel nails for all the girls. It's normal to find Ty outside playing with all the kiddos or just hanging outside.

2 year teaching High Fitness Anniversary. 90's theme and I could not have been happier how it turned out. I wore corn rows, my authentic 90's puka shell necklace, slap bracelets, 90's themed playlist plus some of my favorites.

Hair cut before school starts. Birthday dinner and back to school dinner. Brynlee picked Village Inn.

First Day of 4th grade at Herriman Elementary School. Miss Bradt. This year was kinda crazy. Brynlee didn't have a teacher until about 2 days before school started. She also didn't have a classroom. When school started they were in the computer lab (it didn't look like much of a classroom). They eventually moved the class to the stage while they remodeled the classroom and then they finally moved back to their room and it looked more like a normal classroom. Mrs. Bradt seemed super nice and the first day was still great.

First outdoor game of the Fall season. Oh boy. We lost pretty good but that means we can only go up from here right?

There is always so much partying by the end of August, it's hard to keep track. Ty 35. Brynlee 10.
First we celebrated Ty and Brynlee with the Lawrence crew. Swimming, cheesecake (Ty's fave), and gifts.

Brynlee chose to have a sleepover with just 2 friends instead of a 2 hour invite as many friends as she wanted party. Rompers are all the rage and they're adorable. The kid picked to go to Black Bear Diner, the Puppy store, and Menchie's for dessert. She got her first taste of coffee by accident at Black Bear Diner too. The waitress gave her some kind of coffee instead of chocolate milk. All three of these girls were terrified of the puppies. They kept shying away from them. It's like they forgot or didn't realize that puppies have sharp little claws and teeth.

Round number .... who knows. Thomas family birthday party celebrations.
Auntie Meagan sewed this quilt for Brynlee and it is darling!
Ty was pretty surprised to get his Millennium Falcon. All the sibs went in on it for him.

Tisha always remembering how hard Brynlee's birthday is for me.

Ty's birthday dinner of choice, Tepanyaki. Such a handsome man.

For some reason Brynlee's room and bed are super warm and comfy in the afternoons.
Live action movie of Dora the Explorer.
High prizes for doing our challenges in August.

Gourmandise with the sibs. Every so often it's nice to get together with these crazies and catch up on everyone's lives.

It's always a bit sad to me when school starts. It means my kid is a year older, one more childhood summer is gone, warmer weather and longer daylight hours are dwindling again and it's one less summer I have with my kiddo at home. How do we have a 10 year old. Double digits. We've been parents for a decade. Sheesh. Brynlee is beautiful and silly. Loves to read and rollerblade. Doesn't care for chocolate or being teased but will ask for snuggles almost every night and loves being tickled.
