Youth Conference *~* St. George *~* Spencer 2nd Ward

Youth Conference this year was a blast! Seriously it was so fun I didn't want to leave.
Kicked it off with a devotional at the church, left for a quick stop and lunch at Cove Fort then headed south for the rest of the journey.

It was just our ward so we splurged a little and took the youth down to stay in Southern Utah.
Rented houses in Washington that were nicer than any hotel. First day we sported down to Tuacahn, did the backstage tour and the catered dinner prior to watching Tarzan. Such talented people and our girls were in love with Tarzan even though his abs were painted on. Haha!

Devotionals, Heads Up, bedtime stories, swimming, basketball, etc.
Lots of good food and fun.

Picture in one of the bathrooms in the YW's house.

Friday we took them hiking up to the Kanarra Creek Trail/Falls
It was gorgeous and the water was cold.
The slide was so fun and I'm glad I got to go with this amazing group of kids.

One of the highlights was how the YM asked if I would read them bedtime stories. They were jealous of the YW I guess.

Rise and shine bright and early to do Baptisms.
We were lucky and blessed to get to sit in the Chapel and hear some cool stories about the St. George temple. We were even more blessed when we were allowed into the Visitors Center early being the only people in there during our testimony meeting was absolutely amazing. We had the place to ourselves for a spiritual moment before getting to sit with the Christus statue and then go home to eat breakfast.
I didn't want to come home. The youth were great. Little to no drama, they were helpful and happy and we had so much fun.
Some of the laughs included #don'tpullaphillips.
President Phillips got locked out on the porch of the YW home and nobody knew he was out there. His counselor knocked on the wrong houses door to try and free Phillips too. Hacki sack passed the time pretty well, singing songs on the hike, the slide, bedtime stories, my cot collapsing the first night, staying up chatting with Arlene, taking a nap in my dirty wet clothes from the hike and playing Heads Up with the Chloe/e's on the ride down there, reading Me Before You to Jill and the girls in our car on the ride home, clean Cove Fort bathrooms and lots more.

Arriving home we had a little mishap that we didn't figure out until the next day. I had a little bag I kept with me in the car and when we got home we had to unload everything and make sure all the youth got home so I put all my stuff off to one side of the driveway where we were dropping everything off. Ty came and picked me up, we loaded all my stuff and went home after every one had gone. Well on Sunday evening I was packing my bag for work and was looking for my planner. Couldn't find it anywhere. I had a horrible thought occur to me.... my planner had been in the bag I took with me to Youth Conference. I asked Tyler if he'd packed it, he hadn't. I rushed over to the house where we unpacked everything the day before and miraculously found my bag a few feet from where all my stuff had been piled and set aside. It was soaking wet.
I didn't have the heart to look in it until I got home.
My planner, truck keys.... everything was still in there.
Tender mercy for sure.
However, a good part of my journal was ruined, words were completely washed away, memorabilia ruined, my brand new book was ruined, among other things.
I sobbed. My journals are so precious to me because I struggle to remember things and it's a way for me to keep those memories for myself and my family. 200 pages were full with 50 blank ones left. I couldn't even bare to look at it without breaking into tears so I tore the last blank 50 pages out and have since started a new journal. I am grateful the whole things wasn't ruined but it tears at my heart strings to not know what I'm missing from those pages now.
Accidents happen and I know I'll have a full memory of everything in the future so I just have to keep perspective.
