Girls Camp - Spencer 2nd Ward - Magna Utah Central Stake

Having had
Ty finish school...
a wedding....
and a new baby
in our family all within a month
(June 2nd to July 3rd)
I must say that that is not all we've been up to.
There have been lots of little things going on in between the big things.
Being officially made YW's President on May 18,
suffering through 3 days of the worst cold I've ever had
(seriously, who gets a cold in May??)
and having to plan Girls Camp in 5 weeks,
so by 'we' I mean all the things 'I've' been up to,
I honestly have felt like this is the shortest summer of my life.
Seeing as how I can't speak for Ty he may not agree.
It's probably been the best summer for him since he just got done with school.

So I went to camp...
and here's some pictures to prove it.
June 24th-27th
We went to Camp Atoka in Huntsville and it was a different experience for me this year.
Camp contained the usual fun, girlie, spiritual things.
Our ward had not 'tented' it for a very long time, if ever.
So this was a new experience for most, if not all of us.
Here's some of the fun experiences we had:
Floating (or cautiously walking) the river, a 4 mile hike, testimony meeting, matching shirts, rain, bedtime stories, crafts, yummy food, devotionals, singing and playing games.
Even though Camp was a success and everyone had a great experience, this year was different for me because I felt the weight of the responsibility for practically everyone.
If something went wrong, I would be the one people looked to for a solution, or to blame.
If someone got hurt I would be the one having to give the explanation to a parent.
If someone hated it,
(even though I know everyone is responsible for their own feelings and actions)
I would feel like I didn't do enough.
However, all was well. Our Camp Director Nikki pulled it off spectacularly!
Some of our YW Leaders.
Jarilynn White, Valerie Gustafson, Nikki White, Jill Rasmussen, Kris Nguyen and Me.
Missing Janet Sandersen and Marie Roe.
It's humbling to be able to serve with these rad ladies.
I've grown to love each of them.
They each bring their own perspective and something unique to the table.
 I'm fortunate to know them.

I chose to make all of the girls one of these for a camp gift.

They are Personal Progress packets.
They hold a PP book and journal plus a FSOY booklet and a pen.
It was an undertaking for me, a girl that lacks sewing skills.
However, I proved myself wrong. I was super proud of this accomplishment.
Besides, I used it as a Value Project for my own Personal Progress.
There's a certain sense of pride that warms my heart when I see the girls bring it to church.
I love the girls and am grateful for my calling that provides opportunities to serve them and learn from them. Personally I think I have one of the best callings a Sister could have in the ward.
Definitely not the easiest but the most rewarding for sure.

*Disclaimer: In no way do I think becoming YW President and planning camp are 'little things in between the big things.'
