Having Ty and Brynlee's birthdays only 4 days apart we always end up celebrating for what seems like weeks. This year I just couldn't get my crap together fast enough to plan their birthday bbq at our house with having to plan Brynlee's baptism, moving and all the stuff that goes with that so we just celebrated separately with each family.
First party was at the Thomas's including Auntie Kim's birthday too.
On Brynlee's birthday (which was also the second day of 2nd grade), we walked to school together, including Toby. Then I surprised her at school and met her in the lunchroom to eat with her. I let her show me how to get a tray and choose what you want to eat and I got to watch her put in her student number to buy it. We sat with her friends and she was happy but a tiny bit embarrassed to have me there. I know she loved it, even if she didn't admit it. We let her open her presents and surprised her with the scooter she had been wanting. We tricked her, though, and didn't give it to her until the very end after we had convinced her she wasn't getting one. She was so excited once she saw it and immediately took it out for a spin. We ended her day with some Village Inn, her favorite place and.... she thought our waiter was cute.
Next party was the Lawrence BBQ at TyTy and Jades house.
I bought Ty a new toilet for his bathroom downstairs and TyTy said for his gift he would install it.
Ty loved it. The smile on his face when he realized it was a toilet was epic! It made me so happy. The squatty potty the Williamsons added to the gift pile was perfect. Finishing the night off with cheesecake, Ty was in heaven.
Giving Ty's gifts on his birthday. Some Happy Hippos, a two year supply of Carmex (lol) and a Father/Daughter Star Wars t-shirt
Ending the night at Texas Roadhouse for Ty's selection of dinner.
Brittnee and Garrison took Brynlee out to dinner and bowling for her gift. Seriously, she was in heaven, clearly.
On Brynlee's birthday we got hit with some hard news. Ty called me and told me he had just gotten out of a meeting where they announced American Express was selling his department to a company called Incomm. The deal would close and be official end of March and layoffs would start next year after that. We really didn't have much more information and it didn't feel real when he told me. It hit him hard. It will make for some really interesting changes and we are going to have to have a lot of faith. I feel this may be a bittersweet thing for our family and even though it will be stressful, it will end up being a huge blessing. Just need to have faith it will all work out. My friend Ronda said something to me that I really took to heart and found to be super helpful. She said, "If Ty would've lost his job before you moved you wouldn't have moved. If you were supposed to move to that house then Heavenly Father will provide the way for you to be there." We moved into our home mid July and found out this news about Ty's job a little over a month later. I know without a doubt in my mind we are supposed to live here. Having that knowledge and now facing the challenge that Ty will be losing his job, I know that Heavenly Father wouldn't lead us to this home, knowing this is where we should be, just for us to not be able to stay here. It'll be an interesting year next year though.
