I Like to Look for Rainbows ~ Brynlee's Baptism

Back in June, on our trip to Cleveland and Palmyra, we made plans to take Brynlee's Baptism pictures in the Sacred Grove. It made her feel so special and it's something not every little girl gets to do. They turned out beautiful and I can't believe how grown up she looks.

Brynlee said she wanted a picture taken of her on the bench. So she picked this one.

Mom and Dad came over the night before and helped us put stuff together at the house. The actual big day was September 2nd. When we got there they gave Ty and Brynlee their jumpsuits and showed us a classroom to change and Brynlee thought that was so funky that she had to take her clothes off in the church. I reassured her it was fine and helped her change her clothes. She was being shy and kept saying she felt weird in her jumpsuit. After they changed their clothes the Stake leaders showed us the font and the changing rooms. There weren't any other kids in our Stake being baptized that day so Brynlee got to pick all the details for the program. She wanted her Grandma's to say the prayers, she picked the songs, asked Meagan and Brittnee to do the talks (they both cried) and we asked Makinzie to play Walk Tall You're a Daughter of God on the piano for a musical number. It was all so beautiful and I'm so proud of her. Ty did a really good job with the baptism and the confirmation. It made me feel so lucky to be his wife and to be Brynlee's mother. I was really touched the moment she went down and came up out of the water, then again when I watched the Priesthood holders in our families surround her, lay their hands on her head and give her the Holy Ghost. After she was baptized and I helped her out of the font she said the water was so warm. When I asked her how she felt she said she felt happy. After we changed her clothes and blow dried her hair, there were a few seconds that we thought we were locked in the changing room because they locked the door behind us. It was kind of funny but we made it out alive and found the exit. Almost everyone was able to attend the baptism and come to the house afterward, where we ate breakfast and enjoyed each others company for a little while. I didn't want people to leave, really. I loved having our families over to celebrate with us. Breakfast was yummy and I was so happy to be able to have a big enough place to comfortably have people hang out. So much preparation and it was over so quickly.

We gave her a Quad set of Scriptures with her first and middle name on them.

Proud grandparents.
Such a bittersweet day. Proud of Brynlee and her choice to take this step but also sad she is old enough to have made the choice. She is such a fun, sassy, smart, tender, snuggly little girl who loves to watch Fixer Upper with her Dad, play anything with anyone, read and give loves. As a side note, if one can't tell, she's tiny. This is the smallest size baptism dress and it was still big on her. That's our little girl, though, just tiny. Always has been, always will be.
Forever proud of you our baby girl.
