Sometimes, as a parent, you do awesome things. Also, sometimes, you do some not so awesome things. Like not really thinking something is a big deal when really, to your kid, it is.
Brynlee was chosen for September out of her entire class to attend a breakfast at school called "A Leader In Me" because she showed how to be proactive which is the first characteristic (out of 7) of healthy leadership habits. Her teacher wrote a really sweet note and Brynlee got to get out of class and be recognized for it. Parents were invited but we had no idea what it was and we didn't think it was a big deal so we didn't go. Luckily, Drena Lopez was there with her daughter Lea and Brynlee got to sit with them. Drena snapped these pictures for me which I was so glad she did.
Again, you win some, you lose some as a parent right?
Labor Day hike with the Thomas family and Mc up to Dog Lake. I don't ever remember going up Millcreek Canyon and it was fun but the road was narrow and kind of crazy. Lots of people. We didn't make it all the way which was totally fine because it still ended up being about 4 miles. I carried Maylee for about 1.5 miles of that because she was tired and just snuggled me. Enjoyed some Su Casa for lunch after that.
American Express does some fun events sometimes. This one was called Commotion in the Ocean. It was Pirate and Mermaid themed. We got to go see a bird show, have a small dinner, play games, get face painting, put colored sand in jars, etc. The kids loved it and the bird show from Scales and Tales was seriously pretty cool.
Random pictures. How does she sleep like that? I have no idea. Please note the purple skirt. She LOVES skirts.
Toby waiting for Ty to come home from his run. Ty might not like that dog very much but Toby loves all of us so much.
Something I think is really cool is that just like Ty and Brynlee, Noah and TyTy's birthdays are only a few days apart so they get to share birthday parties. Can't believe this little nugget is 1 year old!
I feel pretty fortunate to be a part of the High Fitness society. High Fitness and Cents of Style put on an event called Break It Down. Besides getting to hang out with some amazing women and friends, the event was pretty fun. It was full of uplifting speakers, a High Fit class by a bunch of the Guru's, grab bags, shopping and food. A couple of my favorite quotes from the speakers, "If you feel called to do something, freaking do it." Allison from the Allison show. Courtney (owner of Cents of Style) also talked about breaking down the walls we build that are negative and limiting. We tore up pieces of paper where we had written our worst fear. My was not being good enough. I wrote down that I am MORE than enough on a different piece of paper for daily affirmations. It's a tough one for a lot of people, not just women. Feeling like we are good enough is a daily battle but the last little while I've been trying really hard to be done with guilt. You can't change the past, you can only do your best in the future and most times our best is different each and every day. So accept that and move on.... right?
Randoms. Pretty buck walking through the neighborhood like he owns the place. Brynlee sleeping (cause it always makes for fun pictures), Ty already itching to build stuff in the toy room.
