DISNEYLAND
Day 1 - Wednesday
Up until the morning we left, we were measuring our time until Disneyland by how many 'sleeps' were left. Brynlee would ask every single day.
She was SO ready to leave and couldn't stop smiling. Before we left we sat down to say a prayer and Brynlee volunteered. It was simple, sweet and she took her time. She said a couple of things like, "Bless us to be safe" and "Help me stay with my parents at the airport."
On the way there we pointed out the Air Traffic Control Tower, the planes landing and taking off and tried to explain every little detail because it made her so happy.
All she did was chit chat the whole time in the car about all the planes and going to the airport. We were happy to oblige her questions. There is nothing like watching her experience something for the first time.
All packed up and ready to go.
Waiting patiently on the shuttle.
Waiting patiently at the airport.
Waiting patiently on the airplane.
Seems like there was a lot of waiting but you'd never know it by her attitude.
She was happy, excited and just in awe and wonder.
As soon as the plane took off she was trying to find our house and she spotted a river which was apparently the coolest thing she could see out the window.
Since it was her first flight, the flight attendant gave her a certificate with all the signatures of those working on the plane, including the pilots. She thought that was pretty neat.
Once we landed there was a whole bunch more waiting as we got our luggage, shuttled to two different car rental places then finally made the 40 minute drive to the hotel. Then there was more moving as we changed hotel rooms and finally got settled in. Hotel rooms are fair game to be crazy, at least that's what Brynlee thinks. Running, planning a show, jumping from bed to bed and a little bit of rocking out to Let It Go. Yeah, I guess we are those guests, I felt bad for the people below us and made a huge effort to be quiet at night but during the day there was no stopping the energy bursting from this kid. By the time we walked to a pizza place for dinner I think it all finally hit and she started getting tired, real tired.
There is definitely a sense of relief as you make it to the hotel and get settled in to your home away from home. The traveling part was over.
And so it began...
